Be happy again

You can be dark and mysterious.

But smile nonetheless, please.

Stop your sighing . . .

List of Life Savers

Here is a list of things that saved my life, they may not be my favorite things but they came along at times in my life when I really needed them.

1. Edward Scissorhands

For that reason, and that reason alone, I will always give Burton a shot.

2. The Beatles

It's getting hard to be someone, but it all works out.

3. Doing the Dishes

I feel very satisfied when scouring a dirty pan.

4. Vodka Tonics (with two limes)

It's not my favorite drink . . . but its my go to drink when I'm blue.

5. Kevin Costner

Like I even have to explain . . . and when he wears that ribbed, blue sweater in Message In A Bottle, oh my, the things I'd do to that man.

6. Catherine Feeney's Mr.Blue

I just thought the song was great when I first heard it, then I met my Mr. Blue . . . ♥
He saved my life, too. ♥ ♥ ♥

7. Johnny Cash, the man, the myth, the legend . . . and this photo

Funny People

Please be happy for me.

The references in "Funny People" were enough to choke me up.

Couch surfer

I was roaming around . . .

Posting more sporadic for the next few weeks at least.
Stress is a part of it but it's more like breaking through glass, finding a new home, but always fearless at heart.
Just in case, Pixie Lott's cover of Use Somebody is the default Saturday Night Lullaby.

There wasn't a 12 year old girl in '96 and '97 that didn't tape this song off the radio. ♥

Ttonight my fortune cookie fortune read, "The smart thing to do is to start trusting your intuition." But further confirming my fortune's message were the events leading to me getting that particular fortune. The Chinese take-out was HORRIBLE . . . barely edible. And my intuition while we flipped through menus was to order pizza. See?

I recounted this weekend's events to my friend today and knowing my medical history she gasped at what my gut told me to order Sunday. I likened it to breaking your finger so you wouldn't focus on the pain of a bullet wound. I can remember my doctor handing me a list of items not to eat and drink and hearing myself muttering, "But this is ALL I eat." I'd rather die happy with a fire in my belly I suppose.

3 In A Row Dedication

Suck it David Allan Boucher. I don't think you've ever played any Johnny. You don't know love if you don't listen to Johnny Mercer's songs.

I'd like to send this 3 In A Row Dedication out to someone very special. Honey if you don't know who you are by now . . . me telling you won't do any good.

And for kicks, they're all Frank singing Johnny. Crooners swoon together.

Too Marvelous For Words

And you are too marvelous for words but I'll try.
I can't keep my phone on me and text you all day. But you make me wish that I could.
You really do make me wish there was an eighth day of the week that no one else knew about. I fell in love with you even more when you threw your arms up in exasperation. When I see you I struggle with turning and running away, because a huge part of me just wants to throw my arms around you and start kissing you despite wherever we are and whoever else is around or how you might feel about it. And not the kind of "I just want to get in your pants" kind of kissing (not that I don't want to get in your pants but that isn't what this has ever been about). But the kind of kissing you do when you're just so happy to see that one person, it's the only thing that comes to mind to do because you're pretty sure gibberish would just come out of your mouth otherwise, you're THAT excited. The kind of kissing that makes you wish there was a secret ninth day created just for that kind of kissing. I snuggle my face up against the back of YOUR neck and feel like that was the spot invented just for me. But then I laugh to myself because that's the exact same way I felt when you were facing me, holding me in your arms. You are definitely easy on the eyes, and that cliche is merely an understatement. God, you look so good to me. And when you look at me, you make me feel beautiful. I walk around in circles with you and feel like I'm on an adventure. I even dream about you when I dream in my dreams you are that embedded in there.

Sometimes you don't have to agree to understand.

A friend and I were talking about the nature of friendship late into the evening the other night. Principle XXVII of Epicurean Philosophy (a philosophy likened to hedonism) even sights friendship as an integral part of achieving "happiness." Look, waaaaay back in PHIL 101 I learned to STOP trying to reconcile any particular philosophy's views and my own. The Principle of Charity states that in order to criticize, one must fully understand a view first. I think the same principle should be applied to people. I criticized a friend in an 8 page research paper a few years back about his reasons for not voting AFTER I had got to know him. For example, I knew his apathy towards the ballot wasn't masking some horrible election day tragedy, no loved one had died in a chad related accident . . . etc. In short, I knew we were cool.

The first step is always understanding. A friend from work is deeply and madly in love with James Taylor, she goes as far to say he's her biggest celebrity crush. Hey I like good folky music and all but . . . well I won't judge. So without further adieu here are some tunes dedicated to friends.

Best point made, sometimes being able to be there for a friend is something that helps keep us strong.

Keep on keeping on loves,
xoxo,
Cindy Mayweather

A Bad Day turned Good

by the goofiness of others.

I'm not gonna lie, when someone tears apart your 8 foot cut-out of the Hulk and throws it in the trash . . . you figure your day is going to go in the wrong direction.
Then when you stop to get a coffee a man that almost hits you with his car upon seeing your angry face decides to insult you by saying "Take a deep breath, Honey. And if you need help with that, call me" which directly results in your eggs committing suicide right in your ovaries . . . again not a sign that your day is going to go well.
Then it just seems like every little daily task is getting mucked up, causing your work load to double and your stress level to rise, you pretty much decide your day is shit.

But . . .
Then Patti cracks ridiculous jokes all day . . .
Stephen and you do a lovely rendition of Dancing Queen (for no reason at all) . . .
You realize that you FORGOT to get your check from last week . . .
You remember your weekend (two days off in a row) starts tomorrow and Alison just got Friday off . . .
You finally get to buy some bubble bath . . .
Andrea promises to email you dancing cows later tonight (fingers crossed Andrea) . . .
You talk about this with Marie for like an hour . . .
You see this . . .
You stumble upon this . . .
And a friend warms your soul.

Update: You then realize that after that friend made you laugh, you made some other friend laugh and then . . .

Good day, good day indeed.
Especially now that you're going to have cool movie time with your little bro.

Puppets X Bloggers = Smiles

Thank you Ms. Wonderland and Mr. Cooper for making my day. (psssst, Charity is my . . . er . . . close friend)

Ms. Wonderland I am slowly trying to help you conquer your fear of puppets with this video from Interpol, the marionette scene from Escape to Witch Mountain, and other various puppets with senses of humor.

Someday when you've conquered your fear we can enjoy a Thunderbirds marathon. Okay those marionettes kind of scare me but . . . still loved them. I wonder what that series goes for nowadays. And the Murder She Wrote DVD full-series collection cost $60, not $10. So bite me. Rawr. :)

When the what if's

and the maybe's
and the probably's
weigh me down . . . I sing myself a little tune. I focus on it and it helps to get me through.
When I took my SAT's I sang The Thong Song. Yep.

Here's a good one, that helps me get some sleep.
