Take a load off.

He can't even talk, but he still gets his own Communicator.

Comic-Con Stars

And I bet he hasn't complained a day since . . .

One question. Who wouldn't?

I call it "sharing."
Go here.
Peep this. (Fun Fearless Ave Fact, my parents had that same green rotary phone up until about 6 years ago, try making long distance phone calls on that thing).
Here's to Small Victories. They are victories nonetheless.
This blog post because I, too, like smelling like a boy. I poke around my dad and brother's manly smelling things all the time. Sometimes you just don't feel like smelling like a flower or a piece of fruit, damn it.
And I think this may just be my favorite coverage of Comic-Con thus far.
Had an interesting talk with a Nerd this morning over coffee, cantaloupe and cutlery. I told him that he and his girlfriend were the nicest Geeks I have ever met (even my own brother can be a little mean sometimes). He completely agreed and said walking into a GameStop or a comic book store without bringing your A-game is like walking into a Harvard dinner party without having read all of Shakespeare's works. I've never minded not belonging to any one particular group my whole life. It's not without the effort on my part either, people let me know I don't belong. In my opinion, when people from any group/sub-group or walk of life cut you down it's because something is lacking in their life, so I never take anything to heart. When people ask me what I like, I say lots of things. Because it's true. When they ask me who I am, I say stick around and you'll find out (you'll know as soon as I do, haha). And if THAT's not good enough, I tell THEM to "keep it real" and see how they like it.

Heart-showers

You can stand under my umbrella. ♥ ♥
My favorite X-Files Episode,"The Rain King."
It seems to me that the best relationships, the ones that last, are frequently the ones that are rooted in friendship. You know, one day you look at the person and you see something more than you did the night before. Like a switch has been flicked somewhere. And the person who was just a friend is suddenly the only person you can ever imagine yourself with. --- Scully

Lonely Arms
It was twice I sat there and looked in your eyes and saw the insurmountable pain you carried. We're not counting the times I had to watch you practically dragged to my vicinity, as if you were being tortured, every muscle rigid, bracing for a blow from the hideous monster hiding behind me I'm sure. Or maybe I was the hideous monster in your eyes. Hideous monsters seem to be all around nowadays.
No, it was assuredly twice that pain broke into me, like shards of debris from an explosion. I didn't look away out of shame for anything I had ever done or not done, I looked away to protect myself, though the damage was already done. The damage was permanent. You didn't ask me over out of love. You asked me from the depths of sorrow, the warm fuzzy buzz of a drink to curb your fear. I am an obligatory stepping stone on your way to recovery. You called me over to point fingers and to assign blame. You wanted me to see your wounds. You wanted me broken, but NOT as broken as you.
I remember those lonely arms holding me. I was so happy and you . . . you were still hanging on to those ghosts.
I imagine seeing you again under so many different circumstances. In some scenarios we speak and I reply with quip, hurtful, sarcastic remarks. In some I immediately recant and further apologize. In others, I stare you dead in the eye, poker face on. In most we exchange niceties and then I simply walk away.
In the end, as each day goes by and I try to get some sleep, I find myself asking the question, "What does any of it matter anyway?"

I love my rat

People sucked . . . as always today.
But laughing in the face of negativity and enjoying good company tends to make any crummy day good. Forgot how much of a sucker I am for the movie, Ratatouille, especially this scene with Peter O'Toole's character, Anton Ego.

Tales From Lingerie
Usually I rely on this site, Cool Things In Random Places to learn about unusually great fun spots. And then there's my friend from work. She rides a lot on the backs of motorcycles and they stop a lot. I've learned about some mythical McDonald's in the mountains of NH with a fireplace and spiral staircase (no one can remember the way back there . . . spooky). And I learned about these two places:
The Paper House
and
Joe's Playland
Oh, you've already heard of Joe's. Bet you didn't go upstairs. Guess what's up there. Here's a clue.
The rest of this summer is gonna rock, come rain or come shine.
